9.10.11

I would have never thought that in Manitoba, on September 10th, I'd take my family to the beach - and it would actually be warm enough to do so. :P But, it's Manitoba, and you just never know. It was 30 degrees out today! We went to the beach in the morning to celebrate my niece's 5th (!!) birthday, then home for a quick nap (just the kids, although I should have joined in), then dropped the kids off so Josh and I could golf in the fire department golf tournament. We just got the key for our cart when there was a fire call! I got to drive to the hall with Josh, that was interesting. He was going about 70 or 80 km/hr through town. Turned out to be a false alarm. Someone called in a corn field on fire, however it was just a farmer burning off old crop - he was even walking around spraying down the edges of the field with water. So we still got to golf, just a little later than we had hoped. After we finished that, we had a quick bite to eat at the fire hall (one of the guys spent all day roasting a whole hog!), then back to Josh's parents to have cake with everyone and watch Livi open her presents. Phew! Very relieved to be sitting down now.
