11.09.11

I exist on the other side of the camera! I normally try to avoid it, there is nothing I enjoy about having my photo taken. Wonky eye? Check. Double chin? Check. Rounded shoulders? Check. Awkward hand placement? Check. This one passes my strict criteria though (being - "Do I look like Rita McNeil with her eyes closed?), so you all can revel in it's glory. Although right now you're thinking, "You're in the photo? All I could see were those adorable kids! Oh. There you are."
We have family photos on Saturday, I can honestly say I would much rather get my annual physical instead. Somehow less invasive and painful. And I really hope we can get a normal smile out of Wyatt, as opposed to his painfully strained "cheese" face. He will literally say cheese, no matter what, when the camera is on him. Happy or sad, smiling or through clenched teeth, he says cheese. Even when I say, "Don't say cheese. Just smile!" He gives me a polite smile and I hear this strained, "cheeeeeeeese" as he tries not to move his lips. Promising career in ventriloquism ahead of him.

  1. You are way too hard on yourself.

As for family photos - relax!! The idea behind family photos (at least as I see it) is to capture who you guys are at this moment in time. If Wyatt is smiling a cheesy smile and Paige has her deer in the headlights look, that meanst that they've captured the moment perfectly!!

  2. Annika has perfected the "cheesy" face as well. I think all little kids go through that stage. Once when I was trying to get a decent picture of her, I made a farting noise (with my mouth!), and it caught her off guard and made her laugh, and I was actually able to capture a natural smile. Whatever works... :P

  3. I agree, you are WAY too hard on yourself! I have the privilege of knowing what Rita looks like, and you do not look like her. Pfft. We all take bad pictures from time to time. If you had more time to yourself you would do what I do...practice a lot by taking pictures of yourself ;)
And the kids do look very cute :) I can't believe how big Paige is already!
