Josh spent the day today out in Vita, helping patrol the area and fighting the wildfires that have totally taken over there.

This is the view from inside the truck when Josh and the other guys showed up.

This is called a backburn. They were lighting a bunch of these, heading towards the wildfires. The logic behind this is that if the land is already burnt, it can't catch fire, and these backburn will help control the path of fire.

A small snapshot of the wildfires. This looks pretty far off, but they were about a mile away. It sounds like things are somewhat controlled now (this picture was taken in the morning, Josh left the area around 7pm), hopefully the winds die down and we get some rain.
This post gave me goosebumps. Thank your husband for all he is doing. It's incredible. And you? Amazing. Amazing. Taking care of the kids for hours upon hours while your husband is away fighting fires. Stressful! And you are still sane. Well, mostly.
ReplyDeleteAmazing might be a stretch, but I'll take it. Yesterday was definetely a Double Stuff Fudgee-O kind of day. :P
